Royal Family of Bhutan

His Majesty the 4th King Jigme Singye Wangchuck married 4 sisters: Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangmo Wangchuck, Ashi Tshering Pem Wangchuck, Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck and Ashi Sangay Choden Wangchuck. The Queens were daughters of Dasho Yab Ugyen Dorji and Yum Thuiji Zam. 5 princes and 5 princesses were born. The then Crown Prince, His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck is the reigning monarch of Bhutan.  

1. His Royal Highness Prince Dasho Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck

His Royal Highness Prince Dasho Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck

His Royal Highness Prince Dasho Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck was born to Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck, the eldest of the Queen Mothers, in 1984. HRH studied Bachelors and Honorary Masters degrees in Modern History and Political Science at St. Peter’s College, Oxford University.

HRH joined His Majesty the 4th King during the 2003 war against Assam separatist insurgent groups in the southern Bhutan.

HRH is a Trustee of the Tarayana Foundation, President of the Bhutan Olympic Committee, Chairman of the International Relations Committee of the Olympic Council of Asia and His Majesty’s representative in implementing social welfare initiatives.

HRH initiated the Tour of the Dragon in Bhutan, a mountain bike race covering 268 km, from central to western Bhutan in 2010.

2. His Royal Highness Prince Dasho Khamsum Singye Wangchuck

His Royal Highness Prince Dasho Khamsum Singye Wangchuck

2nd eldest prince, His Royal Highness Prince Khamsum Singye Wangchuck was born to Ashi Sangay Choden Wangchuck, the youngest of the Queen Mothers, in 1985. HRH began early education at Lungtenzampa and Yangchenphu schools in Thimphue.

After graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, England, HRH was commissioned in the Royal Bhutan Army.

3. His Royal Highness Prince Gyaltshab Jigme Dorji Wangchuck

His Royal Highness Prince Gyaltshab Jigme Dorji Wangchuck

His Royal Highness Prince Gyaltshab Jigme Dorji Wangchuck was born in 1986 to Queen Mother Ashi Tshering Yangden. HRH suited at the Menlo College in the United States.

HRH married Ashi Yeatso Lhamo, elder sister of Her Majesty Ashi Jetsen Pema Wangchuck, in 2013.

His Majesty the King appointed HRH to the post of Gyaltshab, His Majesty’s Representative for the six eastern districts of Bhutan in 2014. As Gyaltshab, HRH administer’s His Majesty’s kidu to the people through the Office of Gyaltsab in Gyelposhing, Mongar.

4. His Royal Highness Prince Dasho Ugyen Jigme Wangchuck

His Royal Highness Prince Dasho Ugyen Jigme Wangchuck

Born to Queen Mother Ashi Tshering Pem Wangchuck in 1995, His Royal Highness Prince Dasho Ugyen Jigme Wangchuck attended the Early Learning Center in Thimphu and later studied at the Le Rosey,theexclusive Swiss boarding school.

Presently, HRH is studying at the Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, in the United Kingdom.
